So I decided to put this unit to the test against my YN600EX-RT workhorse speedlight using them side-by-side, using them at both an indoor/outdoor event and an outdoor portrait photoshoot in full sun. While they worked similarly for me, there were a few differences that I think are worth noting:1. (photo 1 and 2) the Godox has a very similar size and is slightly lighter than the YN. Both have the familiar button placement (4 function buttons on the top, selector wheel in the center, on/off button on the right). The hot-shoe lever is always a nice touch, and I really like that it has a built-in 2.4 gHz transceiver to talk to other Godox lights.2. Functionality-wise, HSS and TTL on the Godox work well, and predictably (which is most important). Shooting outside, the Godox on full-power was able to over-power the sun in the same way that the YN does, however I didn't get as many full power pops from the Godox before it started slowing down compared to the YN. Not a huge deal for me, since fresh batteries were at the ready, however in my experience, I found myself changing batteries and letting the Godox cool down earlier than with the YN.3. (Photo 3) Speaking of changing batteries, what I did find interesting on the Godox is that there are no markings in the battery compartment for the orientation of the batteries. Photo 3 shows how batteries go in, in case you are here with that question.4. (Photo 4) What I found most impressive with the Godox is how far back the "lean" on the flash head goes. When you need to bounce off of the wall behind you, no need to grab and rotate the flash head 180 degrees just so that it can be pointed back far enough. Photo 4 shows the YN and Godox showing off their farthest lean, with the Godox on the right. This tiny little feature on the Godox will be a big timesaver for me.5. Lastly, the seller "LETWING" of this item went super well. My order came sooner than expected, and with the extra goodies (color gels, diffuser sock) it made the item a better value than the other sellers. I won't be using those since I have my light modifiers for my work, but I could see the extra items being useful for someone who is considering Godox as they build their speedlight system.Highly recommend this seller if you're looking for a Godox light that can go anywhere!
