I’m really impressed with the Viltrox 50mm f/1.4 Pro FE lens. It looks great, performs even better, and delivers sharp images with beautiful bokeh. I saved a lot of money choosing this over the Sony GM equivalent, and I don’t feel like I sacrificed anything in terms of quality. Shipping was prompt and the lens arrived right on time. The seller even reached out with a thank‑you note, which I thought was a very thoughtful touch. Highly recommended.

Italian version:Avevo bisogno di un obiettivo medio tele compatto e facile da trasportare, e la mia scelta è ricaduta su questo Viltrox AF 85mm F/2 Evo.Non è stata una scelta casuale: possiedo già due obiettivi Viltrox della serie Air, il 35mm f/1.7 e il 15mm f/1.7, e sono davvero molto soddisfatto delle loro prestazioni e della qualità d’immagine che offrono.La serie EVO è l’anello di congiunzione tra la serie Air (più economica) e la serie Pro (più professionale): ne eredita parte della costruzione e i controlli avanzati, ma con un prezzo più vicino alla fascia entry-level.Il packaging è composto da una scatola voluminosa e ben protetta, contenente la garanzia, l’obiettivo, il paraluce e un sacchetto vellutato per il trasporto.La qualità costruttiva si percepisce subito: corpo in metallo, ottima sensazione al tatto e presenza di O-ring che garantiscono resistenza ad acqua e polvere. I 340 grammi lo rendono perfettamente bilanciato sulla mia Sony a6700, e anche durante l’uso prolungato non si avverte alcun affaticamento.Le ghiere di messa a fuoco e diaframma scorrono senza incertezze e permettono regolazioni molto precise.I controlli sull’obiettivo sono comodi e facilmente raggiungibili. Nel dettaglio troviamo:- Tasto di commutazione tra autofocus e manual focus- Tasto funzione personalizzabile tramite il menu della fotocamera- Tasto click/declick del diaframma, utilissimo nei videoÈ presente inoltre una porta USB-C per gli aggiornamenti firmware.Ho testato questa lente cercando di metterla in difficoltà: scatti serali, controluce e condizioni di luce variabile, senza utilizzare né flash né cavalletto per ricreare situazioni “scomode” e capire davvero come si comporta.Il risultato mi ha sbalordito: questo obiettivo regge bene qualsiasi genere fotografico e non mostra incertezze nemmeno nelle situazioni più critiche.La messa a fuoco è precisa e velocissima, perfettamente compatibile con tutte le funzioni avanzate della mia fotocamera.L’aberrazione cromatica è praticamente inesistente anche in forte controluce, e non ho notato distorsioni rilevanti.Il diaframma va da f/2 a f/16 e lo sweet spot si trova tra f/4 e f/5.6, proprio come indicato dal produttore.La distanza minima di messa a fuoco è di circa 0,70 m, ma è solo un dato tecnico: in pratica, la nitidezza di questa lente è incredibile e rappresenta sicuramente il suo punto di forza.È possibile scattare e poi croppare anche al 100% senza perdere dettagli, cosa che piacerà agli appassionati di macro “improvvisata” o a chi preferisce ricomporre la foto in post-produzione.Su APS-C diventa un 127mm equivalente, perfetto per street da distanza discreta, ritratti con ottima compressione dello sfondo e persino piccola fauna, proprio grazie alla sua eccezionale nitidezza.Il bokeh è morbido, cremoso e molto gradevole, e permette di giocare facilmente con la profondità di campo.La resa a tutta apertura è, secondo me, davvero molto buona e omogenea.Non ho notato focus breathing nell’uso fotografico.Non ho trovato veri difetti; se devo citarne un paio, avrei preferito il tasto funzione leggermente più grande e non in gomma. Inoltre, mi sarebbe piaciuto che il passaggio della ghiera dei diaframmi da automatico a manuale fosse un po’ più “duro”, ma si tratta di preferenze personali.In conclusione, sono davvero soddisfatto dell’acquisto: con poco più di 300€ ci si porta a casa un obiettivo Prime di ottima fattura e con prestazioni ottiche eccezionali. Super consigliato!English versionI needed a compact and easy-to-carry medium telephoto lens, and I decided to go for the Viltrox AF 85mm F/2 Evo.This wasn’t a random choice: I already own two lenses from the Viltrox Air series, the 35mm f/1.7 and the 15mm f/1.7, and I’ve been extremely satisfied with their performance and image quality.The EVO line sits between the more affordable Air series and the professional Pro series. It offers many of the controls and part of the build quality of the Pro lineup, but at a much more accessible price.The packaging is a well-protected, sturdy box containing the warranty, the lens, the lens hood, and a soft velvet pouch for carrying it around.Build quality is immediately noticeable: the metal body feels solid, and the presence of O-rings provides resistance against dust and light rain.Its 340g weight balances perfectly on my Sony a6700, and even during longer shooting sessions I never felt any fatigue.The focus ring and aperture ring are smooth and precise, allowing for very fine adjustments.The lens controls are conveniently placed and easy to access. Specifically, you get:An AF/MF switchA customizable function button (configurable from the camera menu)A click/de-click switch for the aperture ring, especially useful for video workThere’s also a USB-C port for firmware updates.I tested this lens in several demanding situations: evening shots, backlighting, and rapidly changing light conditions.I purposely avoided using flash or a tripod to recreate “uncomfortable” shooting conditions and see how the lens would really perform.The results honestly surprised me — this lens handles virtually any photographic scenario and never showed the slightest uncertainty, even in difficult lighting.Autofocus is fast and very accurate, fully compatible with all the advanced AF features of my camera.Chromatic aberration is practically nonexistent, even in strong backlight, and I didn’t notice any significant distortion.Aperture ranges from f/2 to f/16, and the sweet spot sits between f/4 and f/5.6, exactly as the manufacturer states.The minimum focusing distance is about 0.70 m, but in practice this is just a technical detail: the real highlight here is the incredible sharpness.You can crop images at 100% without losing detail, which will definitely please macro lovers who don’t yet have a dedicated lens, or anyone who likes to recompose later in post-production.On APS-C it becomes roughly a 127mm equivalent, which I find ideal for many genres: distant street shots, portraits with great background compression, and even small wildlife thanks to its excellent sharpness.The bokeh is soft and creamy, making it easy to create a strong separation between subject and background.Wide-open performance is, in my opinion, very good and consistent.I didn’t notice any focus breathing during still photography.I couldn’t find any real flaws. If I had to mention a couple of personal preferences, I would have liked the function button to be slightly larger and not rubberized.I also wish the aperture ring's transition from “A” mode to manual had a bit more resistance, but again, this is purely subjective.In conclusion, I’m genuinely very satisfied with this purchase. For just over €300, you get a high-quality prime lens with impressive optical performance. Highly recommended!

This is my 4th viltrox lens and 1st of their pro level lenses. I have their 15 1.7, 56 1.7, 85 2.0 EVO, and recently purchased the 56 1.2 Pro to go with my Sony a6400.The my cheaper viltrox 56 1.7 was good, but the bokeh was not as dreamy as what I’m used to coming from Nikon full frame 85mm lens. I was considering giving up on Sony crop body when I found video reviews of the viltrox 56 1.2 with comparisons to the sigma 56. In tests of sharpness, vignetting, chromatic aberration, the viltrox performed very well. The viltrox has excellent build quality and optical performance. Focus hunting was ok. Lens is very sharp at all distances. The bokeh is really why I bought this lens and it delivers. Built quality and weather sealing are very impressive. One interesting note: i was already warned in video reviews that there is a moving element within the lens that slides front to back when you tilt the lens. I don’t notice anything when I’m shooting, but when you’re holding the lens don’t worry if you feel it. Overall I’m impressed and happy with my purchase!

Of course there will be a lot of distorsion but that's how you can achieve interesting and compelling pictures.You can get absurdly close with subjects and still get sharp focus. I bought it for my Sony A6700

I purchased the viltrox 15mm 1.7, viltrox 56mm 1.7, and 85mm f2 EVO FE.Viltrox 15mm 1.7: Great lens, fantastic for the price, great quality! Sharp enough for my needs and lightweight. Great walk around wide lens and great for night time. Great for vlogging. I watched YouTube reviews on it which were favorable, I'm happy with my purchase.Viltrox 56mm 1.7Light weight like the 15mm. Great walk around portrait lens. Very impressed with the quality for the price, very sharp.Viltrox 85mm f2 EVO FEHeavier with superior build quality than the 15 & 56. Decently sharp lens. I bought it at $275 before they dropped the price, but I still feel like I got a good deal on it. Bokeh is nice but not quite as dreamy as other lenses that are over $1000 (as to be expected for the price point). Autofocus is fast and silent. Great value for the price as is the same for all viltrox lenses.
