Bought to connect my camera to my (lightning connector) iPad to import photos. Does NOT work for this, despite saying it’s rated for data transfer. The iPad simply says “accessory uses too much power”. I’ll give it 2 stars for working for charging, but since that wasn’t what I needed it for I can’t give it higher.

I have an iPad that still has the Lighting connector and a USB C hub. Wasn’t sure if this would convert the Lighting to (usable) USB C but thought I would give it a try as it stated charging AND data.Works GREAT! Now I can use my older iPad with newer USB C stuff. So far: keyboard, wireless mic, external speakers all work GREAT.

Sometimes all you need is a simple bridge between old habits and new tech, and that’s exactly how I’ve been using this USB-C adapter. As more of my chargers and accessories shift to USB-C while my iPhone still relies on a Lightning port, it’s been convenient to keep this on hand for occasional charging needs. The Lightning end fits snugly into the phone port without any wiggling or looseness. Now, while I wouldn’t describe the charging speed as fast, it’s steady and reliable, which is ultimately what I care about most in an adapter like this. It’s compact, easy to toss into my laptop case, and works well for its intended purpose without any fuss. I haven’t personally tested it for data transfer, and based on past experiences with similar adapters, that functionality can be hit or miss depending on the setup, so I’d recommend a more dedicated solution if data transfer is your primary goal. That said, for straightforward charging and general convenience when all you have within reach is a USB-C cable, this does exactly what I need it to do, and I’m glad to have it as an affordable, practical option.
