This APC UPS replaces the same model that I had used for more than 5 years with no issues. It failed recently and a replacement battery did not fix the problem.I have 2 PC work stations and a network switch plugged into the battery outlets. The battery backup time on the old unit was always adequate to shut everything down during a power outage. I will update the review after I have used the new backup for a while.

J'ai le modèle 850VA depuis plusieurs mois et aucun problème à signaler.J'ai eu quelques pannes électriques à la maison et cet UPS a toujours bien conservé l'alimentation de mon PC, mon router et mon modem. Protège également très bien contre les surtensions, le bruit et les interférences.Outil essentiel pour préserver vos équipements électroniques et informatiques dispendieux.Mise à jour: Appareil ne fonctionne déjà plus. À peine plus de 1 an de bon fonctionnement depuis l'achat en 2018. Ça pourrait être un problème de batterie mais je n'ai plus le goût d'investir d'avantage dans ce produit de faible qualité fait probablement en Chine... Rapport qualité prix médiocre...

Bought this 5 months ago and it's still working like a charm. Had a little bit of trouble with the plugs at first (the metal leads seem to be slightly misaligned with the holes in the plastic) but with a little wiggling everything plugged in alright. Now it's running our TV, PS4, Router, Modem, some backup LEDs for lighting and a Raspberry Pi for power notifications over Slack.We've had about 5 outages since then combined with many more small intermittent voltage drops (the kind that last just long enough to reset the clock on your stove or reboot your pc), and I'm *so* glad I got this. It lasts about 2-3 hours with just modem+router+lights, which is perfect for my use-case. Combined with a laptop you can work from home completely uninterrupted through a power outage. Love it, would 100% recommend.

I've been using this for a few months now. Went through a power outage in the neighborhood a few weeks ago, and it switched over to battery right on cue. I also had a desk lamp (LED) plugged into the unit. After safely shutting down the computer I left the lamp on for another half hour. Worked like a charm. Not sure how much longer I could have used it.Update (March/21): The ups has failed (ongoing continuous alarm tone). I'd had a messy drink spill at my desk a couple of days before the ups quit -- I suspect that was the cause of the failure. To make matters worse, instead of troubleshooting (checking on the 'net), I assumed it was the battery. I'm now the not-so-proud owner of a spare battery. Have ordered a BX850M as replacement unit -- it's a better price, and uses the same battery (RBC17).

UPDATE:We e-mailed APC on the weekend and within a couple days they responded and immediately sent out a brand new replacement unit that arrived only a day later. The UPS is hooked up now and working fine without any problems. We're sending back the other unit in the same box and we're very satisfied with the support from APC. We've also changed our rating from 1 star to 4 stars.ORIGINAL:Our family was using the APC UPS 850VA (BE850M2) on our backup server for only a little more than a month. The power went out in January and when the unit switched to battery it failed and began making a constant tone and our back up server died. We followed the manual and reconnected the battery and tried to charge the unit but it still doesn't work. We get a rapidly flashing green light followed by a constant tone. We attempted to return the unit on 01-24-2019. Amazon clearly showed on it's website we had until 02-14-2019 to return the item. Because the APC UPS 850VA (BE850M2) was defective the Amazon page said we had to talk to a representative before they would allow it to be returned. Amazon customer service was currently closed.We waited until 02-05-2019 knowing we would have to make a lengthy call to Amazon and troubleshoot the APC UPS 850VA (BE850M2) with customer service before they would grant the return. This is when we discovered the return date had been changed to 01-31-2019 by Amazon! We are absolutely livid about this. Only a couple months ago we bought two APC UPS 1500VA (BR1500MS) units and one APC 850VA (BE850M2) unit despite all the warnings and now we're stuck with a defective APC UPS 850VA (BE850M2) that should have at least been returnable for a NEW replacement. We do not want a refurbished unit or a repair. We would rather spend the extra money for a NEW unit, possibly an upgraded model. We're seriously considering buying from another brand besides APC now.

My UPS is set up on my home NAS and it provides me with great piece of mind that it is safe from power issues. While I initially didn't think I needed one or really wanted to spend the money, the piece of mind I've had since getting it is well worth the cost. Especially when I am away from home and there is a power outage, I know that my NAS is safe. Because there is a USB connection on it, my NAS can communicate with it and knows when the power has gone out and it will start a safe and proper shutdown after a set delay time (in case the power comes back on quickly). It is super easy to set up and just works right away; just make sure you connect the battery inside first.

The biggest nuisance in a power outage is your router for the internet goes down. The fiber optic with FIOS keeps on working, they even have a built in battery for the main terminal. The router runs off of a coax to the main terminal, and that is what goes down. So having a low profile battery backup on that piece of equipment can make all of the difference.It has 6 outlets for both surge protection, and battery backup, and another 3 outlets for surge only. That way if you have a heavy duty eat up a lot of juice device that doesn't need to be running in an outage, for example a printer, or second monitor, you can plug them in there. The other great thing is that the USB connected smart feature is that you can program the software that runs it to shut down your PC for example, and conserve power for your internet. If you have a switch or switches that expand your hard wired home connections, as was mentioned there are plenty of plugs for that.There are also two USB outlets so you can charge up your cell phone etc. as well.I have had several APC battery backup UPS boxes over the years and have found them to be reliable. I have some of their 1500 models. I really like having them on my desktop and entertainment system. Electricity is not really all that stable, and sometimes there is a dip in power commonly referred to as brown outs. Your sensitive electronic equipment doesn't really like pulses, or dips. They do make more expensive units that are specially designed to smooth out the voltage, but even one at this level avoids that nasty forced shut down of a desktop computer. You come back and the computer is off, and when rebooting it mentions that an unexpected shutdown occurred and do you want to boot in safe mode, or standard boot up. I use my Win 7 PC for entertainment recording my favorite shows with free OTA signals hooked up to a new powered antenna. When the computer goes down just because of a blip in the power I miss my favorite shows until I discover that, and reboot. So this device saves me a lot of aggravation. With a laptop having a built in battery of course that is not a problem. Overall highly recommended.
