Mine is the 14-DQ0001DX - Identical electronics just a different case (Mine is the tire tread addition - low gloss, black plastic textured to look like its cloth bound).I love it! Battery life is about 10 to 14 hours depending on use. Sometimes I forget where the charger is - with casual use I go almost a week between charges.I voided my warranty by opening mine up. I maxed mine out by swapping the 4GB ram stick with an 8GB stick of Samsung LPDDR4 2666mt/s with one row of chips per side as apposed to two (same spec as the 4GB stick I pulled) You only have one SODIMM slot. Intel clearly states the N4020 processor will not support more than 8GB and I verified this with a stick of 16GB same spec - it won't boot. You loose 1.3GB of hard drive space by increasing from 4 to 8GB. Battery life may actually improve: I went into my BIOS setup by pressing F10 and went to my battery settings and enabled "Show battery time" so mine now gives me in terms of hours and minutes how long my battery will last when I hover my mouse pointer over the battery icon in the task tray. at 53% my bios is estimating that I have 7 hours left as I type this review (moderately light load.) I think if there is anything too it, the reason battery life may improve slightly is due to less time spent flashing the eMMC drive swapping things back and forth in the swap file because I now have more memory to keep things in.With 4GB of system ram the N4020 APU shares 2GB of RAM with the Graphics processor for graphics. With 8GB of system ram you are allowed 4GB for graphics. I tried a 3D game with the 8GB version of this laptop - frame rates where so poor the screen updated only twice a second and the car I was racing left tire tracks on the sides of buildings. Yes, it will do it, but frame rates make gaming even with 8GB a disaster.This thing does really well at cloning hard drives, programing Arduino boards, internet browsing, and non action games like solitare. It handles Excell and Access equally well. Sound is not as good as a Samsung S5e tablet but better than an iPad.There is no way to upgrade the hard drive unless you buy a different motherboard. I've opened mine up and looked. There is no way to add a SATA drive because the connector was not soldered to the Motherboard - spots are there, but no connector. You would also need a drive caddy, but inside the case there is a hard drive bay to mount the hard drive/ caddy assembly if you actually had a motherboard that had the connector. Forget about adding an NVME drive. Yes, the screw post is there, but the screw to actually mount it with is missing and again - there is no connector on the motherboard. Yes, there is a place on the board for a NVME connector to be mounted, but it is missing … and NO … these things don't work in the wifi card slot so forget about swapping the wifi card with the NVME drive and using the USB wifi dongle - the connector is not compatible and keyed differently.My view is this: This laptop is perfect for doing email, social networking, web browsing (Safe Sites!), non-action gaming like scrabble and what not, even cloning other hard drives externally and backing up thumb drives. Programing of microcontrollers is cake walk for this thing and battery life is excellent! It is light and easy to hold and balance for an hour if your crashing on your bed in a hotel room while out of town. And if you forgot to bring your charger, there is still a chance you'll make the weekend with the charge you've got.I've got a Samsung S5E, an iPad, a 17" 32GB gaming laptop, and this HP 14-DQ is the machine of choice at home and away.I don't recommend kicking out of S mode. As is, Windows defender is pretty good combined with the Microsoft Edge web browser. So long as you stick to Microsoft store for apps and don't travel the red light district on the internet, and -big thing here: create a standard user account and work from it (not logged in as administrator as Windows defaults you too at setup), you should be fairly safe. Once you kick out of S mode, you are opened up to 3d party software installations. Then you need a better internet security software suite. Then your loosing hard drive space and processor resources that you wouldn't have lost if you had stuck with S mode. At 64GB on the drive running a N4020 Celeron processor, you want to conserve those resources. I strongly suggest keeping this thing "As Is"
