Proper Router Setup - Extremely Important!

When I first came across this brand, I was a bit hesitant based on a lot of reviews stating that the device constantly loses connection. I've actually had the exact same experience till I dug a bit deeper and found a few things within my router's settings that make these devices a lot more stable. Now, these changes might not work for everyone's router, but I'm currently running an ASUS XT8 mesh router, IN MESH MODE, and have had zero issues connecting these devices to the 2.4ghz network nor do I have connection issues anymore.Meross technical support told me to remove my mesh setup and separate the bands which initially did help but I was still losing connecting from time to time randomly. What I ended up finding out is that if you make these devices have a Static IP as well as BIND them to a certain node (if you're running a mesh system), they work perfectly fine in Mesh mode. So now, I have 1 SSID, my routers are in the mesh setup I initially purchased them for, and I haven't lost connection to any of the 3 devices from this company in quite some time.The other reason I purchased these is that it works amazingly with all my automations through SmartThings. Such an easy fit into my smart ecosystem and all my routines have no issues running with these devices. Super impressed once the connection issues were gone.Finally, this Outdoor plug has no issues with the Canadian winters that I've so far tested it in. I use it for our blowup Christmas decorations and although it's not physically in the open, it still gets snowed on and such.

not plug and play very misleading. I have over 10 units. They worked well for about 6 months then started having problems. They would come on they wouldn't go off. Had to reconnect to Alexa, Then they stopped completely. Stating need to connect WIFI some were 12 feet away not connecting some were 75 feet away connected and working Hit and miss. Note, I have just one connected to a completely different location 10 miles away. That has the same issues. Company says,"Thank you for contacting Meross.We are truly sorry to hear about the unpleasant experience you've had with our device. To troubleshoot and resolve the issue, please follow the suggestions below:1. Ensure that your smart device has a stable Wi-Fi and internet connection.2. Access your router and assign a static IP address to the smart device.3. If your router has too many connected devices, connect some of them to another router.5. Disable "Fast Roaming" on your router's setting page (if applicable).If the issue persists, please provide us with the following information to help us diagnose the problem:1. The brand and model of your router.2. The MAC address or HomeKit setup code of the affected smart devices and your Meross email account.3. with idevices no longer available, these meross outdoor switches are grat and work with all the normal HomeKit, Siri, etc. Easy to set up. Just works!!!

Using this plug with Apple HomeKit gives me much more control over when the outdoor lights come on and go off. It is not just a timer, but one can control specific conditions making the lights go on or off. This is the smallest timer plug I’ve used, so it’s very discreet. By not running the lights 24/7 as many of my neighbors do, this plug allows us to save on power consumption and hopefully have our lights last longer. I’ve only used Apple HomeKit, but this is also compatible with many other systems.

Great project. This was a replacement for an identical model that lasted over a year out in the elements. The WiFi signal was picked up from a good distance which I think is a combination of a decent mesh system and the radio inside this unit. I use with Apple Home and it works flawlessly. Has 2 outlets that can be controlled independently in the app.

Love this outdoor dual wireless unit. Easy to add to my Alexa account and set up on/off times for two different ports. Works great and no issues with winter temperatures.
