I have tried quite a number of Vitamin C serums and unfortunately some of them will turn your skin orange as it goes on throughout the day. This serum feels nice on your skin and absorbs in well. It doesn't turn my skin orange and I do feel like my skin quality is nice now that I have been using it for a while. I also think it layers really well with other products I have been using on my skin. It doesn't pill up or stay on the surface and stay sticky. I would absolutely recommend it. My only real issue is that this specific retinol is available for a much lower price. So while I do recommend it, I don't recommend it at this price.

This is my first time using a skincare product with both retinol & bakuchiol. Typically I've only used one or the other. I use this at night time, as that's the best time to use retinol due to sun exposure when using during the daytime. So far so good! It seems to sink into my skin vs only sitting on top of my skin.

Replenix is what I consider a reputable brand as I initially used it at the recommendation of my dermatologist, though this is my first time trying the Replenix Retinol and Bakuchiol Concentrated Serum. This serum feels gentle to my sensitive, dry and mature skin - - which hasn’t tolerated many retinol products. Retinol is low on the ingredient list, and the serum has “an equivalent to a 0.25% retinol strength” according to a Replenix Q&A.I assume that means this serum has .25% retinol, though the retinol “equivalent” language is vague and might refer to the % of retinol combined with something else (which only Replenix can clarify). Either way, I understand that .25% retinol is a mild concentration used for minor acne and/or general improvement in skin. However, bakuchiol can provide benefits similar to retinol (e.g., improved lines, firmness, elasticity, pigment, sun damage, etc.) used regularly over time but without the irritation. So the two may be a potent combination. The % of bakuchiol is undisclosed, though it’s higher on the ingredient list than retinol.I used this night serum just 1x the first week and went to 3x a week for a couple weeks. I only use this at night and use sunscreen during the day as sun exposure and retinol are a risky combination (per my dermatologist and many sources). I find this serum pleasant as it barely has any smell and doesn’t cause itching, stinging, burning or any issues for me. Also, it’s a lightweight and my skin absorbs it quickly. My skin looks a little shiny at first, but this has a dry finish that isn’t sticky. I don’t notice a residue, but any would be subsumed by my night cream applied after the serum.As to benefits, my skin feels soft and a little smoother and firmer, a couple dark spots have lightened slightly and my skin looks radiant, but for now I assume benefits are from combining this serum with other products. Also, I can’t judge long term benefits as they can take many weeks or months to realize. This is a retinol product I tolerate well and can stick with and think it’s good choice for a new retinol user and/or sensitive skin. Without knowing the % of bakuchiol or using this for an extended period, I don’t know if this is the right choice for someone well acclimated to higher amounts of retinol. This serum has a really pleasant mild smell to it that makes using it even more enjoyable. I also happen to be very prone to clogged pores and have experienced no break outs with use as well, which is great. I have not noticed any improvement in the lines/wrinkles on my forehead, but my skin has looked a lot more supple with use.

Although my skin is not usually sensitive it does react to retinol sometimes, or breaks out from it. I have not had any adverse reactions after using this serum however, which may perhaps be due to the Bakuchiol in its formulation. This serum is pretty thick and hydrating, but sinks and nicely. I only use it at night and follow with spf the next day. I think this is a good retinol option for those with sensitive or reactive skin.

If you are new to products with retinol in them and/or have sensitive skin, you may want to consider starting out by only using once or twice a week in the beginning and then work your way up to more times, if desired. For some, it can be a bit harsh. I find this is best during my nighttime skin routine. It is one of those products that help your skin to look better the next morning. It is great because it helps with a few of my big skin concerns/needs. Large pores, uneven tone and aging 👏

Replenix Retinol and Bakuchiol Concentrated SerumThis has been a good retinol serum for me. Applies easily and absorbs quickly and fully. I don't find it to irritate my skin but it is working well in smoothing fine lines.
