My niece absolutely loved this! It was cute and fun, seemed to work right out of the box. The hamster image was a bit rough but I think that is part of the digital pet thing. Seemed pretty durable for a 9 year old.

Holding the device, it feels substantial and well-constructed, fitting perfectly in the palm of my hand. The "screen"—which is actually a rapidly oscillating flexible strip that creates a persistence-of-vision hologram—is brighter and sharper than I anticipated. It is genuinely fascinating to see the little digital character floating in the middle of the ball, and being able to physically poke and pet the display gives a tactile satisfaction that standard glass screens simply cannot replicate.The absolute standout feature here is the physical movement. I was delighted to discover that this isn't just a container for a digital pet; the Bitzee Hamster Ball actually behaves like a real hamster in a runner ball. The cuteness is so hard to explain. This little hamster has the cutest personality! I was very impressed with the quality of this toy, and it is large! It is not like the sqare ones you can buy that are small, this can sit on the dresser and been seen. The sound quality is great, its like having a little hamster in the house! My daughter absolutely loves this toy. For the price, I would buy more now knowing what an excellent toy it is. The battery life seems long, we have left it on and played with it on and off since christmas and there is no change to function, sound or turning off when using. Great value compared to other toys from this same line.
