I bought these Johnson 1 hour shorts after previously buying a pair of womens 3 hour riding shorts for my wife. Her old shorts needed to be replaced and she likes her 3 hour shorts.However, I have been disappointed. These were to replace my 30 year old riding shorts, that had a true cloth chamois in them, but need to be replace because the elastic on the legs was falling apart.One review mentioned that these are closest to the real chamois of the old days. They are Not! Like other riding shorts they feel like a diaper. It was also disappointing to see that the foam pad (not a chamois), other than the color, are exactly the same for mine (male) and my wife (female). There is no anatomical difference!I purchased these a year ago and was hoping that over time that I could break them in and make them more comfortable but unfortunatly after about 7 rides that has not been the case. I have now purchaced a pair of triathlon shorts and they have a more flexible pad, that does not feel like a diaper and provides sufficient padding in combination with a padded seat.I will say that I do like the material the shorts are made of and unlike another brand of shorts that I tried, the seam in front does not cause discomfort.

These would be a lot better if the padding had a higher density, the padding on these don't have enough density to really do anything, (important to note that density is separate characteristic from thickness) it basically packs out as soon as you sit so it doesn't really do anything (i'm 185lbs, if you are lighter you might have a different experience). These are basically boxer briefs with the idea of padding. That said, they do stay in place without issue, wick sweat pretty well, and don't have any irritating seams, so as long as you have a saddle that fits you they work just fine. I'm a 32" waist and wear Medium in just about everything, medium in these fits perfect, they do have a lot of stretch so you don't need to worry too much if you are between sizes.

I was a little apprehensive about how these would perform, but after riding with them there is a huge difference. They are a great improvement. Makes going for 2-3 hour rides easy. I will be getting a couple more. They might be a little pricey, but well worth it. You'll know after your first ride.

Due to significant weight loss I needed to replace my bike shorts. I have ordered and returned several brands because the rubber type chamois are just too thick for my comfort. My long time go to brand now makes only teamwear and I had almost given up finding a functional cloth chamois. These arrived in two days and I love the chamois. The xl fit will work for ne but I really wished Clubride offered an xxl size.

Padding was misaligned when sewn in. There is a line on the front and back of the pad that should line up with the seam when it is sewn in. Front is slightly out of line & the back is more out of line, making the pad not sit right.Did a 25 mile singletrack ride and they seemed ok.
