Highly recommend this drive dock (Model USBC-SATA-V) and Plugable as a company because of their customer service. This dock does everything it promises. I tried a cheaper Sabrent dock and it was so incredibly frustrating (see below). It's really worth just paying the extra little bit and getting a quality device.I use it with a Windows laptop for extra storage. This dock:1) delivers fast speeds, (see attached CrystalDiskMark screenshot)2) is plug-and-play3) stays connected (reviews for other docks say they randomly disconnect)4) works reliably (I copy TBs of media files with it, leave it working for hours at a time, no issues)5) works 'out-of-the-box' with any size drive without the need to install confusing firmware/driver updates (use it with 4TB and 18TB WD drives)6) comes with a 3 Amp power adapter (instead of 2 Amp, like other docks) which ensures the spin-up of large-capacity drives (reviews for other docks mentioned they were having issues with 2 Amp adapters because large hard drives can have peak power draws slightly above 2 Amps).It's easy to disconnect using "Safely Remove Hardware" in Windows (recognized as 'ASM1351', which I looked up and it's the most modern chipset for these "SATA Bridge" docks). A blue LED indicates when the drive is in use.I got this dock after trying a cheaper Sabrent dock that gave slow speeds and poor customer support. Sabrent actually had the gall to tell me their dock "worked" though it was doing only 40MB/s on the same drives I now get 260MB/s with the Plugable. (Try copying TBs of data at 40MB/s, seriously.)Meanwhile, I emailed Plugable with a product question and they got right back to me with a specific answer and stood behind their product should any issues arise. Their Tech Support is seriously top-notch. Plugable actually cares. Amazing in this day and age.Highly recommend this Plugable device and can vouch for their US-based customer service experience. It's night and day versus the cheap Chinese device manufacturers flooding Amazon.

My main concern was the ability of the dock to safe remove the hard drive which this product is fully capable of. I didn’t had any issue with issue with speed, included usb c cable works perfectly with no speed drop.

This product is very well made and worked out of the box. No drivers to install. With an SSD installed in the dock, I consistently got read/write speeds in excess of 550MB/second. I was so pleased. SSD dock speeds essentially matched what I was getting with a direct SATA connection. I used the USB 3.2 (gen 2) ports on my PC. Traditional HDDs I tried were slower, whether connected directly or via the dock, as I would expect. It was my first time to use a dock, and I did contact technical support with a few questions. Tech support was the best I have ever received from a technology company. The dock works with both HDD and SSD drives. If you switch out drives a lot, this dock is essential IMO. I have read that the data and power connectors on drives are not made to withstand frequent connect and disconnect of cables. A dock solves this problem, not to mention how easy and convenient it is to use. Kudos to the Plugable company.

I am changing my review that I wrote earlier. Originally I wasn't happy as I seemed to be getting usb 3.0 speeds. Even so, the dock was reliable and the speed steady. I gave it two stars (for the reliability). Now I give it 5. I love Plugable products - this one too.Well, the product developer wrote me, and asked a lot of questions. So I did more tests, more carefully, with different hard drives, and am really getting USB 3.1 speeds. Twice as fast as USB 3.0. When copying Acronis disk images, twice as fast really helps. This deserves 5 stars. For some reason, backing up with Acronis directly to an SSD in this dock seems faster than backing up to an internal SSD. I can't think why, but that's great.FURTHER: THIS PRODUCT IS RELIABLE! Unlike every other dock I've tried, this one, once it's connected, stays connected. Other SATA docks flake out; this one keeps going. Even if I leave a drive in for days or a week.THIRD: this doesn't slow down during a large copy. There is always an initial burst of speed which I take to be an inaccurate reading (being faster than theoretically possible), then it settles down pretty quickly to a good steady speed, and it STAYS THERE! It doesn't slow down as it goes. Other products slow down as they go, in my experience.This product has become part of my standard tools that I use all the time. 5 stars.
