We needed a UPS for a GE Ultrasound unit and this more than met our expectations. Looking to purchase additional units in the near future.

Initially I bought this UPS because it has a transformer inside - an isolation transformer (I wanted an isolation transformer for my audio equipment, and a great sale brought this UPS to about the same price, so "why not?" {the UPS portion is a bonus})What's an isolation transformer? It allows the wires powering your stuff to be physically separated from the wires coming into the house. If there is a fault somehow, this makes your electrocution less severe (you can still die pretty easily from electricity (like always), it's just a bit safer - recommended for some types of equipment). The transformer is also tuned for 60Hz (the mains frequency) so will filter a lot of the high frequency noise on the lines from other connected devices, mostly those with switching power supplies (almost everything these days has a switching power supply). Some audio equipment (depending on age and design) can pass this high frequency noise through to the speakers, also this noise can get on data lines and cause the "undesired operation" we sometimes read about in the "part 15" sticker...Like all transformers, this transformer is not 100% efficient - it's about the average efficiency you'd expect from an EI transformer around and above 95% for most of its range (above 15% load or so).Internally there are 2x 12V SLA batteries, I believe they're AGM type (non-spillable). I haven't checked for sure the included size, but the 7/7.5Ah size seems to be what they've used. These types of batteries, when used normally, should last for their normal service life in a device that keeps them up at "float charge" (~13.6V). This is 5-8 years. Paradoxically, if you never use these batteries, they will not last as long as if you do. It's not a huge difference - instead of 5-8 years, maybe expect 4-7. The temperature of your environment also plays a role - if it's always hot, lifetime is affected by about the same amount again. So combined - hot environment + never discharged, that's 3-5 years. If you want to have them last you as long as possible, I'd say 3-4x per year, discharge the batteries down to ~40% remaining, ideally with a load somewhere around 100W, but if that's too much of a hassle, whatever the normal load is will do fine. It's hard to say for sure how many years of service to expect from these UPSes. Unless you live somewhere where the power frequently goes down for 10-30 minutes (like multiple times per week), you probably live somewhere where the power is always on, or off half the day. Frequent 10-30 minute outages would be heavy use for a UPS like this, and the other scenarios is light use. Light use you might get a decade + out of this thing. Heavy use, I can't speak to. It's built better than most consumer UPSes, but it's not industrial grade. It's "medical" but the manual says don't use medical devices on it, so there's that... (I guess it's for Doctor office reception computers, officially?)At full price, I couldn't recommend it. Unless you need an isolation transformer with your UPS. There's nothing wrong with the thing, though, it just seems a little.. pricey (considering you can't plug medical devices into it (I guess that'd be at your own risk. Less of a risk than not isolating (obviously, because you're isolated...), but not officially supported...)

A very solid machine that operates silently. We started having power outages so I got this for my cpap machine and it works very well.

Product was damaged. Was told not not send it back but to dispose it. We did as directed.

Amazing

The company claims "medical grade," but conveniently ignores the hi-potential testing needed for system certifications in several Western countries. Do not waste your money if you know the UPS needs to power systems that will undergo hi-pot testing
