I went ahead and purchased the LG BP530 Blu-Ray with Wi-Fi even though I didn't need the Wi-Fi because my smart TV already had it. I just wanted to have a Blu-Ray Player to play my DVD's and other media as LG has always been very good with supporting many codecs, I have an LG BLU-Ray Burner/Player in my PC as well, and it's been reliable and preforms well. I purchased this unit from Amazon Warehouse Deals, Inc and saved a few bucks it was an open box item with no visual signs of wear. It Played my DVD and Blu-Ray's with no skipping or pauses, so I'm happy. Not sure how much use I'll get out of it as I prefer to purchase my media and save it to the TV's HD or a thumb drive, but to watch our existing collection, or if a friend comes over with a BR/DVD it's here to use. I've purchased several LG products over the years and I can attest that they do build a quality product.

Its sad when you rely on the professionalism of a corporation of dealing with employees that are given empowerment, but lack the knowledge, experience and for this matter common sense too! Its very easy to LIE to make a sale, especially when the consumer is asking specific questions and gets answers; not knowing that the answers were wrong. I say this because I DO NOT TRUST ANYONE ANYMORE! No, its a good way to go through life, but when it comes down to my hard earned money to a greedy company that's only interested into my wallet; then yeah I find it VERY hard to trust them.The player is VERY sluggish, when it comes to using the apps. I use Netflix and I find it bothersome when it takes roughly 45 minutes to catch up to itself. Let me clarify; the load up sequence, browsing through my list/queue, going into show I want to watch, they don't have that quick response; however after 45minutes(pretty much after watching a show) it seems to be working flawlessly. NOW LG, well to rely on their intelligence on a matter of life or death, we would all die! Blames my internet connection, my network, etc. Unbeknownst to them, I tell them what I do for a living and catch them in lies, to the point of getting supervisor(so I think) and elaborating all this to them, again.ITs fair, because the 3d player works, but for the extras a long with it, well I had problems, and because LG has so many players out there, its hard for them to capitalize on their products, oh wait, they did! So why can't they fixed their problems, oh because it costs money! Am I the only confused on not just the ethics, but the business practice alone?I have it setup through my network and have a media server going. This is FIRST TIME I have ever had to screw around with my audio output just to get MP3s to play! YES, you have to change the audio settings manually in order to get the full use out of you player. In other words, in order to listen to MP3s I have to have the setting on pcm stereo, however if I watch Netflix or play bluray, I LOSE OUT on the digital filters for dolby digital and dts! My original Sony bluray was more efficient than this NEWEW 3D BLURAY player by LG. How can we advance with a few steps behind?I am not happy, obviously, but at the same time; what do you expect from an American company using made in china parts? I bought this used, so I am not going to waste my time on trying rectify this, I still have other players to use, I was just consolidating.

I purchased this shortly after I bought My LG 3D TV and LG sound Bar, which all must be LG to get the results needed for the TV to preform as stated. This Little player has been the best DVD Player I've ever purchased. No Problems and VERY EASY to run. Best part,, I now pretty much have a smart TV too with this DVD Player and didn't have to pay the Price to have a smart TV. Price was excellent too!!

3 Month Update: My review still stands, although I considered downgrading it another star. It's still running with no issues with any disc playback. It does freeze fairly often though when dealing with the connected HDD. Sometimes it recovers, while other times it requires you to unplug to reset. This could be my fault, as I'm using a larger drive than it says it supports. Overall, it will still read the entire drive and allow me to watch or listen to everything it supports. I have finally found some file types I own that it doesn't support, but that doesn't change my opinion as it still supports more file types than others I've seen. I may have found a better player out there, but this will do for most of my uses. The freezing up is annoying to say the least, but until I test a smaller drive I can't say it's the players fault for sure.UPDATE: Original one star review below. Updated to 4 stars after receiving my replacement unit, I have no complaints. It's good for you to know that you MAY get a defective unit or faulty update, but when (if?) you get a unit that runs as it's meant to all is perfect. I hope future updates don't change that. If I had gotten this working unit first, I would give it a full 5 stars because it does exactly what I purchased it for, playing Blu-ray discs and connecting my HDD with my movie collection on it. It plays all file types I've thrown at it so far, seemed to be the most supported file types I could find in a player, even plays the files my couple year old LG TV will not play on it's own, and disc playback was quick loading and flawless. Remote app works well so far, although I haven't used it extensively or tested the private sound mode. I do not currently have a 3D capable TV, so I can't comment on this feature yet. The apps aren't extremely important to me, I get them through my TV, Receiver, Xbox 360 and now this Blu-ray player, so combined I have all I need (many are redundant), with Amazon Instant Video through the Xbox 360. If you have no other way to get Amazon Instant Video and must have it, this player is not for you at this time, and may never be according to others. My only complaint, and a small one at that, is that it takes a bit of loading time to show the files on my HDD. The LG TV pulls them up much faster, although I understand it's a large drive that's nearly at capacity. Overall, you'll be happy with this unit though.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Received the BP530 yesterday, got it connected to the Onkyo TX-NR626 7.2-Channel Network Audio/Video Receiver (Black) real quick when I got home with one of the AmazonBasics 2-Pack, High-Speed HDMI Cables 6.5 feet -- Supports Ethernet, 3D, and Audio Return [Newest Standard] I purchased with the blu-ray player.At first I thought everything was fine, the quick setup ran and I got it connected to my wireless network. First thing it does after that is tell me there's an update to the firmware, so I let it do it's thing and get up to date. I have a feeling that's what killed it, although I never got the chance to try it out before the update to say for sure. After the update completed downloading and installing the device restarted. I got to the home screen, opened the disc tray and put in my copy of Avatar on Blu-ray. I heard the disc start spinning and a couple of beeps, but nothing changed on screen. I gave it a minute to see if it was just loading slowly, but nothing changed.The disc tray would still open and close, but no other button on the unit or the remote would work. I pulled the plug and tried again...same story, I get to the home screen and it freezes up. I tried connecting directly to my LG 47LE5400 47-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV with Internet Applications in case it was an issue with communication between the blu-ray and receiver, but that made no difference. I tried using the unit without a disc, but I could maybe move the cursor over one time and it would freeze again. I also went to LG support online to get the firmware update and try to reinstall it manually, but that didn't work because the unit would just freeze on starting and not read from the flash drive. After trying different "reset" actions multiple...MULTIPLE times, I gave up.I've gone through Amazon to exchange this unit for another one with one day shipping. I'll update my review when I get it tomorrow and try it out. I've read another review similar to mine, so I'm not exactly optimistic here, but willing to give it another shot before I look to another brand.

This is a great product and LG stands behind their stuff. This is our second one. The first one failed after a few months and they took it back and either fixed it or replaced it. I'm not sure which. And all at no cost to us. This device makes our TV a Smart TV and we use it for several hours every single day. We have been using it for over a year now.
